My name is Anthony, and I’ve been a non-fundamentalist Christian for about 15 years now. I consider myself to be a Christian Hope Coach and as a CHC, my goal is to provide basic biblical encouragement to help people build a strong, simple faith in God that’s based on love.

Why love? Because God considers love to be most important.

1- Does God really consider love to be most important?

“Love is more important than anything else.” – Colossians 3:14

“Jesus answered: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. This is the first and most important commandment. The second most important commandment is like this one. And it is, ‘Love others as much as you love yourself.’” – Matthew 22:37-39

2- What is love?

“Love is patient and kind, never jealous, boastful, proud, or rude. Love isn’t selfish or quick tempered. It doesn’t keep a record of wrongs that others do. Love rejoices in the truth, but not in evil.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-6

3- How does God relate to love?

“God is love.” – 1 John 4:8

“You are a kind and merciful God, and you are very patient. You always show love, and you don’t like to punish anyone.” – Jonah 4:2

From my experience as a CHC, I realized that many Christians struggle in their faith because of a common misunderstanding of who God is. They mistakenly view love as one of God’s moral attributes instead of viewing love as the core of who God is.

Why is that a serious mistake? Because when we view love as one of God’s moral attributes, that means expressing love can be optional for God and He can prioritize other attributes over love.

If that was the case, then it would be easy for us to experience fear, anxiety, and worry in our faith because we would think we have to perform for God to have Him express love to us, but the moment we sin or do something wrong, God could replace His love with His wrath and judgment.

But if love is most important and it’s the core of who God is, then He would never view love as optional or prioritize other moral attributes over love. Why? Because all of His moral attributes must stem from, align with, and reflect love.

With this understanding, we don’t have to be insecure in our faith. We can be confident in trusting God’s love because He will not act in ways that will contradict who He is.

“God’s love can always be trusted, and his faithfulness lasts as long as the heavens.” – Psalm 89:2

I want to encourage Christians to prioritize love in order for them to have a simple faith in God instead of a complicated one, which is why I started my Faith Made Simple 1:1 coaching service.
