Where do you stand on the divinity of Jesus?
I, Laura farhy, do believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ. I do believe that he really was an affiliate of God and that he really was subjected to death and a resurrection. Otherwise, the narrative of Jesus is meaningless.
Are you encouraging people to quit church and leave religion?
No. I am simply encouraging people who the church has “quit;” My mission is to make God accessible for the individuals who are blocked or locked out from having access to him. (Or like me, they find that many churches and believers do not actually practice or represent what they believe.)
What religion did you leave and what is your religious background?
I was born and raised Catholic, but worked for a Methodist church for most of my adolescent years. (My parents had me confirmed as a Catholic when I was a teenager, but it was not a sincere confirmation on my part.)
Later on, I would leave the church, but then join back into Pentecostal and Evangelical congregations. Once again, feeling like religion overshadowed the sincerity of Christ, I found myself lost and then found in a non-denominational church where I was coached on Christian fundamentals.
Do you still go to church now?
Yes and no. We have a local church we visit, but mostly because I appreciate the programs they have for our kids. On top of that, the individuals leading these programs are real “salt of the earth” kind of people, so I trust their theology.
I prefer to access God regularly, as opposed to have visitation rights on the weekend. He isn’t my step-dad. LOL!
